Director Ian Briggs elected to 2018 Australian Institute of Architects Victoria Chapter Council

Director of Plus Architecture Ian Briggs has been elected to the Victoria Chapter Council of the Australian Institute of Architects.

The state Chapter Councils fulfill an important role in providing effective leadership and collaboration with the Chapter staff and management, working to develop strategic plans and strategic priorities for the Chapter as well as communicating with the wider architectural community.

“It’s an honour to be elected to the Chapter Council and I look forward to working alongside my fellow Council Members,” says Briggs.

An architect with two decades of national and international experience, connectivity is a concept that’s critical in Ian’s approach. He believes in generating a profound sense of ‘place’ and creating an environment that connects people culturally, socially and spatially.

A member of the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), Ian recently presented at the 2017 CTBUH International Conference on how architecture is integral to developing connected cities.

He values a collegiate, inclusive approach to architecture and the profession, and he believes the AIA can be a voice for firms of all sizes. Ian is a firm proponent of responsible development which openly tackles Victoria’s burgeoning population boom.

His professional presence across Australia and New Zealand gives Ian a unique overview of the broader profession and its representative bodies.

Plus Architecture would like to congratulate Ian’s fellow members of the Victorian Chapter Council on their appointments: Amy Muir, Rosemary Burne, Thomas McKenzie, Keith Westbrook, and Jocelyn Chiew, and would like to thank outgoing members Peter Malatt, Fiona Winzar and Adam Pustola for their valued time and contribution to the Victorian Chapter.
