Waterfront City Bid

9.02.1998
Plus Architecture was given the opportunity to build on the vision of Melbourne Docklands by MAB Corporation, in masterplanning  Waterfront City in their bid for the precinct.Waterfront City was envisaged as the final piece of the jigsaw, to complete the overall Docklands vision north of Victoria Harbour.

Plus focused on optimising Waterfront city’s links with the completed active components of NewQuay. The Masterplan centered around a mixed-use, retail- focused, residential  development with large activated plazas on the waterfront and to the north around the retail hub.

Plus had the opportunity to work with international retail consultants, Jerde Partnership who provided specialist knowledge and an invaluable international perspective to the project.

The masterplan combined a series of zones, each of which had a discrete and distinct focus, with seamless transition from one area to the next. Public spaces connect the zones, whilst the circulation network pattern encouraged  people movement and activity.
