29/4/08 ‘Six-Star System Fails to Earn its Stripes’, The Australian Financial Review
30.04.2008| “A growing demand for six-star green buildings from Australian architects and developers means the country’s planning authorities are being pushed to rewrite archaic ratings systems and rules.
“The thing that’s really pathetic is the current assessment tool only considers heat loss,” Plus Architecture director Craig Yelland said of Melbourne’s system. Mr Yelland’s recently approved Society building in Prahran which has almost sold out to mainly generation Y buyers, has Moped and bicycle parking…and the units are smaller in size and rainwater is collected and used for gardens.” |

An ESD Practice
12.11.2007| Plus Architecture embrace and champion environmentally sustainable principles within our design culture and practice, and we aim to be recognised for delivering quality architecture that is ESD responsive.
At Plus Architecture we extend our commitment to environmental sustainability to our own office. We have a minimal car usage policy. The majority of our staff commute to the office via public transport or on bikes, even our directors. We understand that to make ESD successful we need to have a holistic approach to coordinating and integrating ESD principles at all stages of the design and building process. We aim to help our clients identify areas for change and work with them to facilitate the change. |
