15/9/10 ‘…and it’s a WRAP’, The Age
17.09.2010| ‘WRAP, is to be built at 133-139 City Rd. The spire, and Beijing’s Bird Nest Stadium, have inspired the tower design, in which a series of rectangular segments wrap around the building to create a vertical mesh pattern, culminating in a bold lantern-style beacon on the top of the building.
Ian Briggs from Plus Architecture said the beacon had been inspired by the concept of a Japanese lantern, which provides a beacon for people to find their way home’. |
