October 2003
The Nolan, Docklands
30.10.2003| The fourth of the towers The Nolan, a 24-level tower of 204 apartments takes on a slightly different persona from the adjacent buildings.
The use of glass has been increased and interest created in the façade with the use of enclosed balcony sections to provide dramatic projecting viewing pods to some of the apartments. The podium has also been handled differently in terms of its façade expression and its treatment of its car parking levels. All these towers have been designed to a symmetrical plan that features apartment layouts that have been oriented to the view of either the city skyline or the major water body of Victoria Harbour. The commitment by MAB Corporation to an Arts Precinct continues on The Nolan with the incorporation of a gold wave wall screening piece by Alexander Knox called ‘Ned and Dan’. |

Moonah Links Masterplan, Fingal
30.10.2003| The 300 hectare site in Victoria’s picturesque Mornington Peninsula incorporates two 18 hole courses: one is the home of the Australian Golf Open, the other encompasses the majority of the residential lots. The vision of the team was to create a built environment respectful of the region’s coastal topography.
The design guidelines for the dwellings were also developed by Plus Architecture to ensure that the suggested contemporary architecture used sympathetic materials and forms that suit the rolling dunes of the area. The next step for Plus Architecture was to develop the masterplan for the hotel precinct consisting of the clubhouse and six stages of hotel incorporating 280 accommodation units. Plus also designed and delivered the clubhouse and the first stage of the hotel. |
