| First seen as a series of dark monoliths on the hill at the end of the entry boulevard.
The building is comprised of a series of tall dark containers standing between low stone walls, recalling standing stones on some significant community meeting place. The narrow gorge like entrance and corridors lead out into sunlit rooms beyond.
Floor planes are modulated to provide the interior with a number of special experiences – some are raised up to provide archetypal veranda spaces, while others flow seamlessly out into the private terraces and gardens to the north.
The materials palette would be formed locally available materials such as basalt, drawing inspiration from the regional vernacular architecture. |
